Deadline for BNC entries approaching

The deadline of Jan. 15, 2003 for entries to the Canadian Pacific Railway 2003 Better Newspapers Competition (CPR BNC) is quickly approaching.

Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA) members have less than one week before entries for the CPR BNC are no longer accepted. CCNA is also reminding members that when sending in their entries to send them to CCNAÔÇÖs new address at 8 Market Street, Suite 300, Toronto, Ontario, M5E 1M6.

You can download a mailing label for your entries with the new address on it by visiting the convention web site .

Each year, the CCNA Better Newspapers Competition brings together communicators from Canada’s community newspapers industry to celebrate excellence and innovation.

Newspapers from across the country, large and small, compete for a variety of awards that are judged on such criteria as presentation, advertising content, local features, community news and, most prestigious of all, general excellence.

Finalists and winners are honoured at the exciting CPR BNC Awards Banquet – this year, being held in Vancouver on May 31, 2003. Also this year, the CPR BNC Awards Banquet will be combined with the Alcan Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards, hosted by the British Columbia & Yukon Community Newspapers Association. All entries are to be based on editions published during the calendar year of 2002. To determine which circulation class to enter, you can check CCNAÔÇÖs online database at for the latest first-edition audited or sworn figures as of November 18, 2002.
