The Canadian Community Newspapers Association is accepting entries for the 2008 Better Newspapers Competition, which means it is time for you to decide what categories to enter.
With a total of 31 categories to choose from, there is a spot to show off your best work, no matter if it is a photo, news story, special section, or your newspaper’s web site.
If you need a little more incentive to enter, however, take a look at categories that offer cash prizes, thanks to generous donations from our sponsors:
- Agricore United’s Best Agricultural Story Award – $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, and $250 for third place.
- The George Cadogan Memorial Outstanding Columnist Award – $500 to the winning columnist.
- CN’s Best Business Writing Award – $500 First Prize.
- George Holmes Memorial Trophy for Best Photo Illustration – $300 for first place, $200 for second place, and $100 for third place.
For more information, visit the BNC website at http://www.communitynews.ca/bncawards to read the rules of entry and to download the forms. The earlybird deadline is Wednesday, January 9, 2008, and entries that meet the earlybird requirements will be entered into a draw for a voucher worth up to $1,500 toward the cost of attending the CCNA’s national convention.
