Three must-experience events at 2008 conference

Over 400 industry and corporate executives from the Canadian newspaper, advertising, and marketing industries will converge in Toronto from May 7 to 9 for this year’s conference which takes place in co-operation with the CCNA’s conference partner, the Canadian Newspaper Association.

Time is running out to sign up for three must-experience events.

Golf at Glen Abbey
Tuesday, May 6 – 10:30 AM & 12:30 PM tee times
There is still time to register for a round of golf at Glen Abbey Golf Club, also known as the home of the Canadian Open. Space is limited, but delegates registered for the conference can take advantage of this opportunity to play on this world-class green.

The cost is $295 per person, which includes cart, boxed lunch, dinner, and transportation. Delegates can still register as a foursome, or individually. Duffers are welcome.

Tour of Toronto Star Press Centre
Wednesday, May 7 – 9:00 AM
Sign up for a free tour of the Toronto Star’s $400-million facility, which is home to six MAN Roland presses. Torstar managers will give delegates a rare glimpse behind the scenes at the press centre, which can output full colour throughout the newspaper every day for both editorial and advertising purposes.

Better Newspapers Competition Awards Gala
Friday, May 9 – 5:30 PM Reception, 7:00 PM Dinner
Bringing the conference to a close, the 2008 Better Newspapers Competition Awards Gala honours the best of the community press in Canada.

A true celebration, the event attracts winners from all over the country and will feature media personality Ralph Benmergui as the evening’s host.

Be sure to mark your calendar for this special event which will also recognize the honouree for the Margaret Hennigar Award for Exemplary Leadership. The CCNA will also present two individuals with the association’s highest recognition, the Honorary Life Membership award.
