Postmedia Network shuffles executive team

As Canwest transitions to Postmedia Network, the appointment of an executive team has been announced by president and CEO Paul Godfrey.Wayne Parrish, formerly of Sun Media and most recently CEO of Basketball Canada, returns to the newspaper industry to oversee the transition as chief transformation officer. Gordon Fisher, the former publisher at the National Post, will now serve as president of the national paper as well as executive VP Eastern Canada. Douglas Kelly, former editor-in-chief of the National Post, has been promoted to publisher, and deputy editor Stephen Meurice will step in as editor-in-chief. In addition to his role as president and publisher of Pacific Newspaper group, Kevin Bent will also oversee Postmedia's Alberta properties in his expanded role as executive VP Western Canada. The board of directors has also been announced with Ron Osborne, former president and CEO at Ontario Power Generation Inc. as chair. Directors include John Paton, CEO of the Journal Register Co., David Emerson, former federal cabinet minister, and Peter Sharpe, president and CEO of Cadillac Fairview Corp. among others.
