Ad spending to increase in 2011

Advertising sales in print newspapers were up 2.3% in 2010 and are predicted to increase another 1.5% in 2011 according to the latest global ad spend forecast released by ZenithOptimedia. Online newspaper revenues were up an estimated 14% to $200 million in 2010 and growing tablet and smartphone markets will continue to drive online ad spending. "Newspapers already provide much of the trusted content on the web, and are leaders in providing their audience with a variety of ways of accessing content under the newest of devices," the report noted.
