Postmedia Network has introduced SwarmJam, a new group buying initiative, in 12 daily newspaper markets and 22 community markets. The site offers users daily deals for readers and a new vehicle for advertisers. The service features a member rewards program and a progressive pricing model, in which a discount increases the more people sign up for it. A mobile app for SwarmJam is currently in development and is slated to launch at the beginning of 2011. "Consumers are always looking for a good deal…and our advertisers are interested in new ways to engage customers. SwarmJam is the best of both worlds," said Alvin Brouwer, president, business ventures at Postmedia.
