Government serves back-to-work legislation for postal workers

JUNE 15, 2011 – On Wednesday, June 15, the federal government served notice that it would move ahead with back-to-work legislation in order to bring the nationwide postal strike to an end.

Canada Post locked out all members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) on  Tuesday, June 14 following 12 days of rotating strikes that moved from region to region across the country. The proposed back-to-work bill would be designed to end the current Canada Post lockout of unionized workers and mandate an arbitrated settlement to the dispute.
