Deadline for Great Idea Awards this Friday, February 17

Newspapers have just three days left to submit their online sales initiatives, magazines and other promotional campaigns into the 2012 Great Idea Awards. Participants must register and submit or courier all of their entries before midnight on Friday, February 17 in order to be eligible for this year’s competition.

The Great Idea Awards honour newspapers that work alone or with clients to create compelling advertising and promotional initiatives that make exceptional use of the strengths of the newspaper medium in print and online. With six unique awards categories to choose from, there are plenty of opportunities to show off your newspaper’s creativity!

In the Digital Innovation category, we’re looking for online ads that go beyond the classic banner or skyscraper format and push the envelope with clever copywriting, daring graphic design and video, interactive games or other attention-grabbing techniques that engage clients and visitors. For Promotional Campaigns, show us how your newspaper worked with the community, local businesses, charities or other groups to launch a successful event-related campaign.

Judges will be evaluating entries for overall concept, visual appeal, copywriting, design, and category specific criteria.
