Snapshot 2015 confirms increase in community newspaper circulation

As of June 2015 there are 1,083 community newspapers in Canada and more than 1,180 editions. Community newspapers publish almost 21 million copies each week and the majority of circulation is free (controlled) accounting for more than 20 million copies weekly. Total circulation is 2% higher than last year with the growth coming from controlled circulation papers. Community newspapers publish in both broadsheet and tabloid formats, although 88% of all editions are tabloids.
