Ottawa Citizen food editor Ron Eade dies at 61

Longtime Ottawa Citizen food editor Ron Eade has died at age 61, just two months after being diagnosed with lung cancer. A graduate of Ryerson’s School of Journalism, Eade worked at the Iroquois Falls Enterprise, the Peterborough Examiner and the Waterloo Region Record before joining the Ottawa Citizen in 1988.

He first worked as a municipal affairs reporter on the city hall beat and later became the paper’s food editor in 1998.

He retired from the Citizen in 2013 after 25 years with the daily newspaper but continued writing about the Ottawa food scene on his website, www.roneade.com.
