Statistics Canada report: Black Friday impact on retail sales

Statistics Canada has released a report on the effects of Black Friday on total retail spending (2006, 2011, 2014) and evaluates the shift of sales from December to November since the introduction of Black Friday. December remains the busiest shopping month of the year and overall retail sales levels appear to be unaffected.

Sales by sector appear to be somewhat affected, particularly in the electronics and appliance stores category.
