La Presse+ readership numbers increase

La Presse has just released a new set of readership metrics for its mobile app, La Presse+. Readership on the app continues to increases and has grown almost 30% since the weekday print version of the newspaper was discontinued in January 2016.

According the Spring 2016 Localytics measurement data, the free mobile app received an average of 725 daily downloads, or nearly 140,000 new readers each week. An average of 260,000 unique tablet users are connecting to La Presse+ on a daily basis, spending between 40 to 60 minutes with the digital edition. Furthermore, advertising revenues from La Presse+ now account for 75% of La Presse’s total ad revenues, up 5% from the end of 2015.

“At the beginning of the year, La Presse completed its digital transition, with our La Presse+ digital tablet edition successfully replacing the Monday-to-Friday print edition,” said La Presse president and publisher Guy Crevier in a press release. “Three years after its launch, La Presse+ is now established as an indispensable medium of reference in Québec, both for readers who have made it a daily ritual and for the advertiser clients who choose it to deliver impactful marketing campaigns.”
