Nine out of ten adults read newspapers

Recent research confirms that Canadians are reading their newspaper, regardless of the format. The 2016 Newspapers 24/7 study reports that 87% of adults read newspaper content in print, on desktops/laptops, tablets or their phones. Cross-platform newspaper readership demonstrates Canadians’ interest in news and continued trust in newspaper brands to deliver this content.

More Canadians are embracing technology to read newspaper content, and they are doing this while still reading in print. In fact, more than a quarter of adults report reading newspaper content on all four platforms weekly.

Print readership peaks at breakfast time and continues to lead all platforms in total weekly readership. Phone readership has shown the most growth and is the second-most popular platform among all Canadian adults.
