Bernie O’Neill retires from community newspaper business

Ontario newspaperman Bernie O’Neill will be retiring from the community newspaper business after working in the industry for close to three decades. O’Neill began his journalism career as a reporter and photographer for the Algomam News in Wawa.

He went on to serve in various newsroom roles at the Westmount Examiner, North York Mirror and the Richmond Hill Liberal before joining the Markham Economist & Sun in April 2008.

He has served as an editor and columnist at the Markham community paper – as well as the Vaughan Citizen and King Connection – for the last eight and a half years.
