Canadians trust newspaper advertising

Trust in the news media is strong in Canada. Not only do Canadians continue to view advertising in a positive light, they also trust traditional media more than digital media.  Research from Canada, the US and around the globe continue to reinforce a higher comfort level with newspaper advertising.

News Media Canada research finds newspaper ads are more trusted that television, radio or magazine advertising.  The Advertising Standards Council reports that 70% of Canadians are comfortable with the levels of truth and accuracy in the advertising they see in newspapers. Globally, six in ten respondents say they completely or somewhat trust ads in newspapers, according to the Nielsen Trust in Advertising Survey.
