Disputes over newsprint could be latest ‘disruption’ for newspaper industry

The U.S. Department of Commerce has recently applied a new tariff on Canadian newsprint.

The tariff, amounting to more than 6.5 per cent on about 25 Canadian plants, comes after an investigation launched because a U.S.-based paper company complained that Canada was dumping newsprint into the American market, while unfairly subsidizing its industry at home.
