A breakthrough on government advertising in Saskatchewan

Earlier this month, the provincial government of Saskatchewan agreed to run paid space monthly in all newspapers that are members of the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Assocation (SWNA).

This breakthrough comes after a more than a two year lobby effort undertaken by the SWNA and AdCanada.

Beginning April 1, 2020, the provincial government will buy a standard sized advertorial space (approximately 10”x7”)  featuring government editorial content from the Premier and various government departments.

This represents an additional $450,000 in advertising spending and will not replace any current advertising.  In addition, the Saskatchewan government is considering a  monthly conference call Q&A for SWNA member newspapers with the Premier and other Ministers.
