The Canadian Association of Journalists extends deadline to complete inaugural Newsroom Diversity Survey

The Canadian Association of Journalists has announced that the deadline for news organizations to complete their inaugural Newsroom Diversity Survey has been extended to June 4, 2021.

Last November, the CAJ launched the 2020 Canadian Newsroom Diversity Survey, which remains Canada’s first representative survey of diversity in media.

So far, more than 80 news organizations have completed the survey – and many more have committed to doing so. You can see which organizations have completed the survey by clicking here.

The CAJ’s survey is based on a similar survey conducted in the United States by the News Leaders Association since 1978. The survey was released after three years of consultation with experts in survey design and media diversity.

A full copy of the survey text is publicly available here. If you are a newsroom leader that did not receive an editable survey copy, please contact survey@caj.ca. More information about the survey can be found here.  and we will send you one.
