Our 2020 National Newspaper Week program won an award of merit

News Media Canada’s National Newspaper Week 2020 program, developed in conjunction with Craft Public Relations, has been awarded an OVATION Award of Merit.

Celebrated annually in the first week of October, National Newspaper Week is dedicated to celebrating the critical role that newspapers play in maintaining a healthy and thriving democracy. It offered News Media Canada a timely moment to deliver positive coverage about the industry in Canada.

News Media Canada leveraged National Newspaper Week to give Canadians the opportunity to wear their support for Canadian newspapers on their sleeves – literally. We partnered with Canadian fashion designer Hayley Elsaesser to create the Champion The Truth Collection and leveraged the partnership and collection for a national media relations campaign that drove more than 15 million positive earned media impressions.

This award recognizes strategies or ongoing programs that use the news media as the primary channel to reach target audiences and seek to influence awareness, understanding, and opinion or to motivate action.

The prestigious OVATION Awards have celebrated excellence in communications in the Greater Toronto Area for 36 years. Awards will be presented in an online ceremony on May 26, 2021.
