Your one-stop shop for everything related to National Newspaper Week 2021

National Newspaper Week officially kicks off on Sunday October 3!

More than 350 newspapers across the country are gearing up to celebrate this 81st annual event with our “Truth be told” advertising campaign.

In the age of disinformation and “fake news”, newspapers are among the few credible news sources, helping their readers stay informed, holding governments and individuals accountable, and sparking meaningful conversations. Access to high-quality and trusted news provides readers with the information they need to stay engaged and connected on important issues that span local communities and the world at large.

There are still lots of ways you can celebrate National Newspaper Week locally in your market next week.

  1. Digital ad material is available to download from this link.  You can link digital ads to our re-designed National Newspaper Week website at www.nationalnewspaperweek.ca.
  2. Promote on social media with our specially sized images featuring the Champions artwork.  Download images for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter by clicking here.  And click here to download our Key Messages for Publishers to help write your own caption. Don’t forget to tag @NewsMediaCanada and use #NationalNewspaperWeek and #ChampionTheTruth.
  3. Generate community support by asking advertisers and community leaders to post their support on social media. Check out the gallery of examples under Local Influencer Engagement in our online toolkit here.

Small space/filler ads are available here to download to continue promoting the Champion The Truth art collection until the end of the year.  A portion of proceeds from the collection sales will be donated to Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE).

And don’t forget to follow News Media Canada on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to see how others are celebrating across the country next week!
