Community newspaper readers are most interested in local news

Research from the Fall 2021 Vividata study confirms that local information is the number one reason for reading community newspapers. Local news is at the top of the list, as reported by 96% of weekly community newspapers.

In many cases, local newspapers report on news that cannot be found anywhere else and tell the stories of the community.

Community newspapers and their websites are hyper-local and effectively represent the neighbourhoods they serve.

They can target these communities like no other medium. Three-quarters of readers believe it is important to support the advertisers in their local newspapers, to ensure the vibrancy of their communities.

Local advertising in community newspapers is an investment that will pay dividends far and wide.
