Last chance to submit entries for the Michener Awards and Michener-Deacon Fellowships

News organizations and their journalists are encouraged to submit examples of public service journalism for the 2014 Michener Awards. The Michener Award honours journalism that makes a significant impact on the public good. To be selected as a finalist, a news organization must be able to demonstrate that its entry achieved identifiable results, such as improvements in public policy, ethical standards, corporate governance or the lives of Canadians.

The Michener Awards Foundation also offers two fellowships to encourage excellence in journalism that serves the public interest: one for an investigative journalism project and another for journalism education. Each fellowship provides the winning Canadian journalist $30,000 and accountable expenses of up to $5,000.

The entry deadline for the Michener Award, the Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Investigative Journalism and the Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Journalism Education is Friday, February 20, 2015.
