Hot Topic: Stress, Mental Health and Workforce Productivity

Newspaper life is not without stress, and helping your people manage it better is critical to protecting their health. Stress is also a hot editorial topic, very much on the minds of Canadians. A new study by Queen’s University, in partnership with Morneau Shepell, focuses on the mental health of Canadian workers, reporting that their stress levels have risen significantly recently, with the result being lost productivity.

On Thursday, May 29 Alan Torrie, President and CEO of Morneau Shepell, will take the stage at the INK+BEYOND newspaper conference in Charlottetown, PEI to deliver a keynote presentation on Employee Mental Health and Wellness. Torrie will provide insight into how high stress, and poor mental health generally, contribute to rising absenteeism and lower workforce productivity.

INK+BEYYOND 2014 will feature speaker presentations and workshops led by industry experts from North America and Europe. The program will cover a variety of topics ranging from the latest research on audience measurement, digital and mobile trends, civic engagement, revenue-generating sales strategies and much more. The two-day event will also include numerous social events, awards presentations and an extensive industry trade show.
