Editor in chief Andrew Potter to leave the Ottawa Citizen

Ottawa Citizen editor in chief Andrew Potter is leaving his post to start in a new role as the director of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada in Montreal. Potter has helmed the paper since December 2013 and was previously managing editor since 2011. He has also served as a features editor at Canadian Business and was a public affairs columnist at Maclean’s magazine from 2005 to 2001. Potter will remain at the Citizen until the end of February.

He will begin his three-year term as the Director of MISC on August 1, 2016. Established in 1994, the Institute runs an academic program at McGill, supports an active research environment, and organizes a variety of large-scale, public events on matters of interest to Canadians.
