CJFE announces 2015 Award recipients

Canadian Journalists for Free Expression has named Saudi freelance journalist Safa Al Ahmad as this year’s recipient of the International Press Freedom Award. A reporter and documentary film maker, Al Ahmed has produced several documentaries on uprisings in the Middle East, most notably in Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

US-based lawyer Jameel Jaffer will be honoured with the 2015 Vox Libera Award for his work with the American Civil Liberties Union.

Ken Rubin, a veteran investigative journalist based in Ottawa, has been announced as the first-ever winner of the CJFE Investigative Award.

All of this year’s award winners will be recognized at this year’s CJFE Gala: A Night to Honour Courageous Reporting, taking place in Toronto on December 2.
