Held May 29-31 at the stunning Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel in downtown Vancouver, an exciting information-packed conference program has been prepared to inform, educate and entertain. YouÔÇÖll find a diverse range of intriguing keynote speakers; three panel discussions; full-day educational workshops for editorial, sales, production and photography staff; and networking opportunities and social programs for the whole family.

Sales Staff: ÔÇ£Building the Strength of the Classified Franchise in Your CommunityÔÇØ by Carol Richer, a popular trainer to more than 350 newspapers.

Photographers: ÔÇ£Think Tight and BrightÔÇØ by Tom Braid, Chief Photographer, the Edmonton Sun; and ÔÇ£The Digital Camera Survival SchoolÔÇØ by Nick Didlick, international expert who helped papers like the Vancouver Sun, the National Post and Calgary Herald go digital.

Production Staff: ÔÇ£Designing with the Reader in MindÔÇ£ by award-winning newspaper re-designer Edward Henninger; and ÔÇ£Tools for the New Newspaper WorkflowÔÇØ and ÔÇ£Adobe InDesign for Editors and WritersÔÇØ a two-part, five-hour workshop by Sebastian Distefano, AdobeÔÇÖs expert on cross media workflow and pre-press technologies.

Keynote presentations include Len Kubas who will speak on “Flyer Developments and Future Trends Impacting Community Newspapers,” followed by a panel discussion among preprint users, printers and distributors. Astonishingly accomplished at the age of only 22, Jennifer Corriero, selected by the World Economic Forum as one of the Global Leaders of Tomorrow for 2002, will explore how newspapers can better engage youth in her luncheon presentation, “The Challenge of the Next Generation: Youth Readership”. On May 30, George Radwanski, Privacy Commissioner of Canada, discusses CanadaÔÇÖs new private sector privacy law.
