Verified Circulation: Q & A

Welcome to the first Verified Circulation Q & As! Starting this month, The Publisher will be posting the answers to some common questions about CCNAÔÇÖs most popular member service. VC members should refer to the VC Q & A column in every issue for information and announcements about the program. If you have any questions about VC, e-mail them to vc-info@ccna.ca or contact Katrina Limgenco at 1-877-305-2262 extension 21. WeÔÇÖre happy to help.

RETRIEVING REPORTS and CIRCULATION FIGURES

Q: IÔÇÖm a new circulation manager and canÔÇÖt find older reports for my paper. Where can I retrieve past reports?

A: The VC office has hard copies of all reports submitted since each paper applied to the program. Past reports can be sent to you via fax or by email in PDF format upon request from the VC office. Contact us to have a copy of your past report(s) sent to you.

Past reports will be available online at the VC website at www.verifiedcirculation.ca in the near future.

Q: While looking for information about the program, I noticed on the VC website that there is a section to view reports. As the publisher, am I able to view my reports?

A: Every VC-member publisher is entitled to view their own report online on the VC website, free of charge. Username and password information were sent to all members.

For an annual fee, advertisers, agencies and other interested parties can also gain access to the reports of all VC members online. By logging on to the VC website, you can find circulation reports of all publications audited by VC.

Contact the VC office for more information or to purchase a subscription.

Q: I checked my report on the VC website and the old report is still up. How can I have my most recent report put on the website?

A: Each month, reports are uploaded to the VC website as part of the monthly process of updating our members and CARD. Reports are updated by the 15th of every month; however, if you would like your report uploaded sooner, please let the VC office know. Also, if you receive your report in the mail and find your online report has a discrepancy, please let us know so we can make the necessary corrections.

Q: IÔÇÖm putting together some promotional materials for my paper, and IÔÇÖd like to include my Verified Circulation figures, but IÔÇÖm not sure what figures I can publish. Can you help me out?

A: According to VC policy, you can publish four figures. These include your average:

  • Total Paid Circulation

  • Total Controlled Circulation

  • Total Circulation

  • Total Distribution

Any figures that are published must be the most recent figures available whether they are from the most recent interim or audited annual report. Figures cannot be published if they have not come from a VC statement or report signed by the VC office.
