Last week, Vancouver Province sports writer Steve Ewen was selected as a recipient of the Eric Whitehead Inspired Service Award. In its fourth year of being awarded, it was named after the former Province sports editor and columnist who was instrumental in the founding of the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame.

Longtime CP journalist Mel Sufrin dies at 96

Over the course of a 69-year journalism career, including nearly 45 with The Canadian Press, Mel Sufrin established himself as an avid storyteller and stickler for grammar, but above all is remembered by family and former colleagues as a sweet and thoughtful "gentleman."

IAB goes deep on digital spending

Digital ad spending in Canada recorded a growth of 11.1% to $9.62 billion in 2020, a new report from IAB Canada has found. According to the findings, social media made up 27.7% of digital spending at $2.67 billion, and was the second highest-growing category in 2020. That was up from 22.7% compared to the prior year.
