The 2013 Jumpstart Awards are now open

Newspapers Canada is pleased to announce that the inaugural Canadian Tire Jumpstart Awards are now open. This writing contest will promote the charitable mission of Canadian Tire Jumpstart charities and showcase the strength of Canadian newspapers in communities across the country.

Staff writers at daily and community newspapers are invited to enter stories they’ve published about Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities for a chance to win a grant worth $5,000 to donate to their local Jumpstart chapter.

Stories will be judged under the following categories:

  • Jumpstart Fundraising: The purpose of this category is to celebrate people who have supported and raised awareness of Jumpstart through in-kind support and fundraising.
  • Jumpstart Kids Helped: The purpose of this category is to celebrate the kids that Jumpstart has helped since its inception—one time or many, with one sport or more than one.
  • Community Development: The purpose of this category is to tell the Jumpstart story from a community perspective, a full overall program, rather than a single child story.

Entries are being accepted from now until Wednesday, November 20.
