Young journalists are invited to enter the Goff Penny Awards

Daily newspaper journalists between 20 and 25 years old can now enter the 23rd annual Goff Penny Memorial Prizes for Young Journalists. Cash prizes of $1,500 will be awarded to entrants in two circulation classes: under 25,000 and 25,000 and over. Previous winners of this prestigious award include the Toronto Star’s city hall bureau chief Daniel Dale, Hamilton Spectator crime and securities reporter Nicole O’Reilly and former Globe and Mail foreign correspondent Graeme Smith.

Young journalists have until Tuesday, February 18 to submit their work for consideration.

All entries will be evaluated by a panel of industry judges and the final winners will be announced in the spring. Award recipients in both circulation classes will be honoured during a special luncheon at the INK+BEYOND newspaper conference in Charlottetown, PEI on May 28-30.
