Eduardo Lima wins Tom Hanson Photojournalism Award

Toronto-based freelance photographer Eduardo Lima is this year’s winner of the Tom Hanson Photojournalism Award. Lima’s work has been featured in numerous publications in Canada and abroad, including the Toronto Star, Le Monde, Metroland titles and Corbis Images. As the winner of this year’s photography competition, Lima will spend six weeks interning with The Canadian Press in Toronto.

“I’m thrilled and honoured for the opportunity to work at The Canadian Press alongside their great team of photojournalists,” said Lima. “I would like to gain a better understanding of what Canadian editors are seeking from photographers and expand my technical skills as I cover a wide range of assignments. I am looking forward to photographing sports such as professional baseball or hockey, which I am less familiar with as I grew up in Latin America. I hope that the daily challenges and the pressure I will face during the six-week internship will push me to become a better photojournalist. ”
