Local newspapers takes readers into ‘the story behind the stories’

In an effort to connect with readers in new ways, the Neepawa Banner and Press has taken to the airwaves to produce a weekly show that brings readers behind its headlines.

Called ‘Stories Behind the Story’, the half-hour segment goes beyond just summarizing. Editorial staff explain why the story matters to their community. The program has been running for about two years.

“We(‘ve) [gotten] positive feedback and so it has become a weekly thing we do and plan to do so going forward,” says Ken Waddell, publisher of the Neepawa Banner and Press.

The show is posted to the newspaper’s website and its Facebook page.
