Irene Gentle becomes managing editor at Toronto Star

Toronto Star city editor Irene Gentle has been appointed managing editor for the daily paper. Gentle first joined the Star in June 2011 as a business editor.

The award-winning editor previously worked at the Hamilton Spectator for six years serving in a number of different roles, including news editor, assignment editor, business editor and city editor. Gentle has also held newsroom roles at the Flamborough Review, Oakville Beaver and Niagara This Week.

Gentle succeeds former managing editor Jane Davenport.
