Newspapers 24/7: Focus on Boomers

Since 2011, Newspapers Canada has tracked readership by device and time of day to measure print’s impressive stability over time and the continued growth of digital readership. The research shows that almost 9 in 10 (88%) of Canadian Boomers (those 45 to 65 years old) read a newspaper in some format each week. Research shows this demographic reads print in the morning, and readership peaks again in the evening.

“Boomers embrace both print newspapers and their websites,” says Newspapers Canada president and CEO John Hinds. “While they read in the morning, there has been an increase in readership in the evening as well.”
