Newspapers making major lobbying push

This week’s edition of The Hill Times newspaper features a detailed article on Newspaper Canada’s continued lobbying efforts of the federal government.

At the top of the association’s lobbying agenda is the demand from more government advertising funds to be allocated to newspapers, an enhanced government periodical fund, and reforms to copyright law.

“There is a real challenge around public-interest journalism and around local news content that is presenting itself across the country,” says John Hinds, the president and CEO of Newspapers Canada.
