Simma Holt dies at age 92

Journalist and former Member of Parliament Simma Holt died last week at age 92. She was the first female managing editor of the University of Manitoba’s student newspaper The Manitoban. After graduation, Holt was hired as an assistant to the city desk editors at the Vancouver Sun in 1944. She worked at the Vancouver daily for a number of years as a reporter, feature writer and columnist. She was elected to the House of Commons in 1974 as the Liberal candidate for Vancouver-Kingsway.
