Re-thinking the future of Canada Post

John Hinds, President and CEO of Newspapers Canada appeared before a special hearing of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates this morning, as part of the Government of Canada’s independent review of Canada Post.

In May 2016, the federal government announced a plan to review the operations and effectiveness of the Crown Corporation, specifically as it relates to financial self-sufficiency in an ever-evolving digital world.

The parliamentary committee in charge of overseeing this broad review is currently on a national tour to consult with Canadians and other stakeholders. Newspapers Canada is currently reviewing two key issues as it relates to the future of Canada Post. Those issues are: service and pricing.

Newspapers Canada is currently in the process of completing its official submission to the committee. If members would like to provide additional suggestions and/or feedback, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
