The Globe and Mail and The Vancouver Sun are among the six finalists nominated for the 2014 Michener Award. The Globe is nominated for its series of the devastating legacy of the thalidomide drug. The Sun has been recognized for its From Care to Where series, which documents the plight of foster children in the province of British Columbia. The Canadian Press, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and French-language magazine L’actualité are also finalists for the prestigious award recognizing excellence in public service journalism.
His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will host the Michener Awards ceremony at Rideau Hall on June 18.
