Newspapertraining.ca is an education hub created BY community newspapers FOR community newspapers. This portal has been built with all newspaper staff in mind – from editorial and sales, to design and management. The industry is transforming and so are the skills needed work in and manage it. Stay up-to-date with articles, tips, videos, webinars, Q&As, expert interview, training modules and more. The goal of NewspaperTraining.ca is to create a forum where reporters, editors, sales team and publishers come together to share innovative ideas that help make community newspapers go-to sources of information for Canadians.

Local Media Association Webinars
One of LMA’s highest-ranked services is their webinar series. Last year LMA had over 45 of them and their members rated these as some of the best in the business. Many of these are “Quick Bite” webinars that are just 30 minutes. All are recorded and available to you through our archives. Be on the lookout for emails announcing new webinars. The non-member rate is $59 per webinar, but media-association partners including News Media Canada get a special price of $29 per webinar. Anytime online training for journalists at Poynter’s New University
Poynter’s News University is one of the world’s most innovative online journalism and media training programs. It is open to journalists, bloggers, freelance writers, journalism students. News Media Canada has partnered with Local Media Association (LMA) to offer our members innovative sales training certification courses at a special discounted rate. The LMA online training program provides media salespeople with the skills and tools they need to progress from transaction-focused selling to true consultative selling. Participants will learn how to transform their sales relationships into collaborative business partnerships that produce dramatic, long-term and measurable sales results.
