Daily newspapers are invited to encourage their young staffers to submit their entries for the 2015 Goff Penny Memorial Prizes for Young Journalists. The annual competition is open to daily newspaper journalists between the ages of 20-25 working for CNA-member daily newspapers. Young freelance journalists and student interns whose work has been published in a CNA-member daily newspaper are also eligible to enter.
Competition winners are awarded cash prizes of $1,500 in two circulation categories, fewer than 25,000 and 25,000 and over. Previous winners include Toronto Star reporters Jennifer Pagliaro, Daniel Dale and Jesse McLean, Katie May from the Winnipeg Free Press (previously at the Lethbridge Herald), and Molly Hayes from the Hamilton Spectator.
All entries must be received by Friday, March 18, 2016. For more information about the awards, visit the Goff Penny Awards page.
