Spouses and Alumni are in for a real treat – including a day-long bus tour to Nova Scotia’s famous South Shore.
Spouses and Alumni will visit the picturesque and historic towns of Lunenburg and Mahone Bay, as well as the famous lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove – perhaps the most photographed harbour in the world.
Alumni begin their Convention experience with a reunion during a meet-and-greet reception and will also be acknowledged with special presentations and moments of recognition.
Everyone will also enjoy Harbour Hopper tours of the Halifax waterfront and adults will also have the opportunity to tour Alexander Keith’s Brewery.
Young people will have plenty to keep them busy. Teens will experience the Titanic Tour at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and be thrilled by a ghost tour of downtown Halifax. Additional events are still in the works but may include a tour of a naval dockyard and a submarine.
Younger children will challenge their scientific minds at Discovery Centre. Children will also learn about water safety by spending a day with the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, romp around during a pajama party and enjoy many other fun activities.
There will be lots to do for everyone at the Gathering of the Clans, and delegates will emerge from the Gathering rejuvenated with ideas for their newspapers and refreshed by their Atlantic Canadian experience.
Registration costs for children and spouses are very affordable and include all meals. For registration information, go to the Gathering of the Clans Convention website at www.communitynews.ca/convention2002 .
