Starting on September 1, Alberta’s Carstairs Courier will be joining Mountain View Publishing, which includes the Didsbury Review, Innisfail Province, Mountain View Gazette, Olds Albertan and the Sundre Round Up.
According to a news story on the newspaper’s website, the Courier will move production to Olds, Alberta while maintaining its office in Carstairs. The deal was reached by Tall Taylor publishers and CEOs Dennis and Jackie Taylor, and Murray Elliott, publisher of the Mountain View Gazette, and does not affect their affiliation with the Great West Newspaper group.
“It makes sense that with our retirement, Mountain View Publishing take over the Courier,” says Jackie Taylor. “This way management will be closer to the town of Carstairs and all the papers within the county will be united.”
Established in 1982, the Courier is the sister paper to the Rocky View Weekly, which will now be operated by publisher, Paul Rockley.
“It is really more of a move than a sale,” says Taylor. “Things wonÔÇÖt change drastically and it will be business as usual. The Carstairs Courier will still reflect the news and events of Carstairs.”
Elliott also said, “Having the Courier tied to the Mountain View region and publishing group is natural and is a good fit.”
