Canada Post is reminding publishers that the Publications Mail Agreement Number must be printed on the front or back page of any newspapers sent by Publications Mail.
In January, 2008, Canada Post launched the Undeliverable Publications Mail process, which handles any Publications Mail that can not be delivered due to addressing issues.
Since launching the process, the Crown corporation has noticed a large volume of community newspapers which incorrectly print their Publications Mail Agreement Number on the inside pages of the newspaper. This error creates problems processing undeliverables, and causes delays in returning the undeliverable information to publishers.
To find out more about the specific guidelines for printing the Publications Mail Agreement Number, read the 2008 Publications Mail Customer Guide.
