Encompassing 31 community newspaper categories and four campus newspaper categories, the Better Newspapers Competition recognizes the best in editorial, photography, advertising, promotional and overall excellence in community newspaper publishing.
Two hundred fifty-five newspapers submitted 2,551 entries this year from works published in 2009. Entries were reviewed by 81 peer judges. Blue ribbons were also awarded by judges in the General Excellence classes to newspapers deserving honourable mention.
First-place winners will be recognized at an awards gala on Thursday, May 13, in Toronto, in conjunction with the CCNA and CNA's joint conference, Ink and Beyond 2010. Following the gala, the 2010 Winners Book will be sent to all CCNA members. Containing the full list of winners, along with judges' comments, scores, and visuals, the Winners Book serves as a keepsake for winners and a valuable learning tool for all.
We would like to thank the judges, and congratulate the winners and all members who participated in the competition.
