Renowned Canadian newsman Bruce Garvey has passed away at the age of 70. Garvey spent almost 50 years working as a journalist, starting his career with the Stratford Beacon-Herald at the age of 21. He later worked at the Montreal Gazette and United Press International before joining the Toronto Star in 1967. In 1977, Garvey made the transition to television news, first at the CBC and later with Global. Former editor of the Star Peter C. Newman described Garvey as “one of the great journalists of his generation."
