The Globe and Mail and a group of journalism students from the University of British Columbia were honoured at the Emmy awards this week. The Globe recieved an award in the new approaches to news programming category for the online series Behind the Veil, an in-depth multimedia project profiling the lives of women in war-torn Afghanistan. A group of ten UBC students won the news magazine award for their documentary on electronic waste entitled Ghana: Digital Dumping Group which aired last year on the PBS television series Frontline/World.
