Two jailed Cameroon journalists were released last week just one day before they were honoured with a press freedom award from Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE). Serge Sabouang, publisher of La Nation, and Robert Mintya, editor of Le Devoir, were imprisoned in March after they were accused of possessing documents that compromised two key figures in Cameroon. "The fact that (the two men) were released they day before they were to receive their awards is proof to us that bringing international pressure to bear can have an incredible impact," said CJFE director Annie Game.
