MAY 25, 2011 – Given the current date and the status of the negotiations, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has confirmed there will be no strike activity on May 25, 26 or 27.
Newspapers across the country have been preparing readers for a possible service disruption should a strike occur. Negotiations continued through the long weekend, and both sides have indicated their commitment to reach a settlement. Canada Post has tabled a counteroffer to the global offer presented by CUPW on May 22, covering several areas including job security, wages and benefits, health and safety, and staffing.
