Horvitz Newspapers, LLC has sold the Peninsula Daily News and its sister paper Sequim This Week to the Sound Publishing Inc. division of Black Press Ltd. Black Press has also purchased Olympic View Publishing Co., which owns two weekly newspapers, the Sequim Gazette and Forks Forum. All publications and related websites will be operated by Sound Publishing, which has 46 publications and a combined circulation of 732,700 in the Pacific Northwest.
“We have been publishing community newspapers for 22 years in Washington state and see this as an opportunity to expand our operations to the North Olympic Peninsula, which is a good geographical fit with our other newspapers and website titles,” said Black Press president David Black in a statement following the acquisition.
