The Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star were the big winners at the 63rd annual National Newspaper Awards (NNA), earning eight and five wins respectively. Single awards went to The Hamilton Spectator, La Presse, Le Journal de Montréal, London Free Press, Reuters, St. John’s Telegram, Sarnia Observer, Vancouver Province and Getty Images. The awards recognized work produced in 2011 by Canadian daily newspapers with categories dedicated to editorial, photography and multimedia work.

The winners were honoured during an awards gala held in Toronto on April 27 in conjunction with Newspapers Canada’s annual INK+BEYOND conference.
